Mission
Our mission at Inclusive World is to empower differently-abled youth by developing their vocational skills based on their unique interests. We aim to equip them with the tools needed for a self-directed life, fostering greater independence.
Person-centered Practices
At Inclusive World, we base our teaching on person-centered practices, which means modifying our approaches to working with different individuals based on their personal needs and desires. We meet our members where they are, and help each individual grow towards their own goals, whether it is employment, volunteering, or lifelong learning.
Peer buddy Volunteer Schedule and Hours
As a peer buddy volunteer, you will be able to garner volunteer hours throughout the entire school year by committing to spending up to 2 hours a week with IW. By the end of the year, students can obtain up to 60 volunteer hours. If you are a college student looking for field hours, you can volunteer in our weekday program to fulfill your requirement.
Peer Buddy Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities
Each buddy volunteer will be paired with a specific member at the start of the class year. As a volunteer, you can expect to:
- Learn along-side your differently abled buddy and help them participate in the class
- Work with your team leads to help make class more engaging and fun for your buddies
- As a volunteer in one of IW’s small businesses, work closely with members to help them gain motor/vocational skills and job experience by working on the various tasks that help run our businesses
Why volunteering at IW is meaningful for youth (high school/college students)
Volunteering at Inclusive World is an amazing opportunity not just to get volunteer/field hours for school/college, but also to give back to your community. Youth volunteers get the chance to genuinely see the impact they’re making in their buddy’s growth throughout the year, and to create lasting friendships with their buddies and fellow volunteers. Volunteers can also see the impact they are making on people’s lives as they learn alongside their partners and put a smile on the buddies’ faces as they complete fun activities with them!
